One possible HP gaining solution would be to
eliminate the stock fan blade and use an aftermarket electic fan like "black magic" with a high CFM flow. HiPo mags such as Jeggs or Summit have a good selection with all the accessories. This should give approx. a 5HP gain.
In these same mags they sell electic waterpumps that can be used for everyday driving and are reliable and much improved over the earlier models that were for drag racing applications only. As with the fan conversion ,approx. 5 hp could be gained.
Of course this has nothing to do with the actual rebuilding of the engine but surely anything that would add longevity and regain hp lost to the waterpump and radiator fan would be a plus.
Also there are electronic drop-in point conversion kits that increase firepower to the plugs, increase economy and aid in cold weather starting.
