the fix for thermoquads is remove carb. find a thick forest, heave carburetor as deeply into forest as physically possible, go buy a Carter AFB or the modern edlebrock copy of an AFB, install and have zero issues from then onward. Thermoquads distort under heat. I have replaced many in the old Dodge motorhomes and all the customers were very happy after upgrading to an all metal AFB/edelbrock. the thermo can work find in cars where the strain and underhood temps are lower but they are a terrible truck/MH carb.
