1979 carter thermoquad flooding

Howdy, really been enjoying the site. I recently purchased my dream truck, a 1979 powerwagon w150 with a 360 and 4 speed. Besides a laundry list of fixes I rebuilt the old thermoquad 9251, it runs like a top (can't believe so many people hate it). However while on its maiden off road trip the carb kept flooding. I was talking with a fellow who had a scout with the same carb, same issue. He said the floats often stick down when at extreme attitudes. I wondering if there is a fix cause I've become found of the tq.
