The flathead weighs a bit over 600 lb. My Perkins 4.236 and a Cummins 4BT weigh about 750. My Hercules is about 625. A Cummins 6AT3.4 which are still findable but not made new since '91 weighs about 650. A Toyota 2H or 1HZ, both 4.0L sixes, weigh about 750 lb also. These motors put out 100-135 hp nat. aspirated at 3600-4000 rpm, and 120-165 turboed. Torque is ~180 ft-lb NA, 220-275 turboed. Length is the problem, not weight.
A Nissan SD-33/SD-33T is only 3.3L, turbo'ed puts out about 101 hp and 178 ft-lb. Still might be too long.
A Detroit 3-53N puts out 102 hp and 205 ft-lb with N50 injectors. With a turbo added it can go to 145 hp and 280 ft-lb. It weighs 1005 lb with iron block, 900 with aluminum block. They are noisy, but short enough.
And of course a GM 6.2 or 6.5 will fit since it's a V8.
