coil - to dist, + should be hot and may have 1-2 wires, 1 to ign if 6 volt, to ballast resister if 12v and to other to starter i terminal to bypass resister if 12v. resister is a white ceramic gismo w/ 2 wires, other side of resister goes to ign switch. don't need generator to run, just battery, except generator tightens belt.Have Fun!
