one of the first things i did on these trucks was to adjust the ring gear thrust plate. i break the weld, wondering why it was welded in the first place, then i unscrew the adjuster, check the tip and put it back in. it screws in way further than it was. i figure good, i got it adjusted. NOT SO. i had a manual on order and when it got here and i read it i realizeed what i did. the thrust plate had fallen into the bottom of the pumpkin. this meant i would have to pull axles and the third member or risk that thing getting caught up in the ring and pinion gear. i then understood why it was weled. after that i looked the manual over before i became familiar with these trucks. i am sure we all have a story like that to share.
