You were reading petroleum propaganda no doubt.Please ,quote the part you read ,that gave you the impression gas is 100 times better than it used to be. Engines have been redesigned and are still being designed so they will run on the present inferior fuel that cost a fraction to refine as opposed to the older "exotic blends of crude oil". It boils down to a dollar, the oil companies are forever looking for ways to get more fuel from a barrel of crude,at the the lowest cost to produce.Now how do you get better fuel when you get more and produce it cheaper ? You must now buy such things as fuel stablizer to add to your fuel so it won't turn to crud in storage or gum up your fuel system. Fuel use to have a longer self life because they once added these things you now have to pay extra for. Some things have gotten better over the years but fuel quality is not one of them. Heck,I had a 7.9% APR on my sears card till the FED lowered the interest rate,then it jumped to 16.9%APR.Believe me, the Gov. ,oil co.'s,and banks are not concerned with our best interest.I percieve that one day (in our lifetime) we will have to retro fit for LP gas or other engines as the future fuel will not run our old PWs.
PS are you old enough to remember in the early 70s when they told us we were running out of oil,which later turned out be a fabrication to get the price of gas up? They never lowered it did they ? Now they use OPEC as an excuse to gouge us at the pumps.
