Check power at the motor terminals under the little tin wiring cover. If none there, work backwards through the pressure switch until you find where there is power. If you don't know how to use a meter to do this basic testing, enlist the help of someone who can teach you. If there's power at the motor, it should hum noticeably if it has electricity but is not turning for some reason. Remove belt and see if it runs then. Perhaps compressor side is jammed, or unloader valve is not unloading (air compressors can't start against pressure). If it still doesn't run see that the motor pulley spins freely. If the starting winding or capacitor is burned out, the motor will start and run at full speed if you wind a string around the shaft and give it a hard pull like a chain saw motor. Since you didn't smell smoke or see anything burned, most likely there is no power getting to the motor.
