This law will make it easier (if not cheaper) to have original looking plates on your vehicle. You won't have to go out and find the correct year plates and tags like you did under the Year of Manufacture program.
Are your plates commercial plates? One plate dealer told me that only commercial plates could be YOM'd on a truck.
I'm not sure that's true. The new program will use three letters and three digits even for commercial vehicles, trailers and motorcycles.
Pairs of old commercial California plates are very expensive.
