I still claim not to know anything. BUT... I once had that strange electrical gremlin we've all be up against, and it was the amp meter on the dash. Loose connection on one side. I think by the time I'd located it, I'd popped for a new battery, alternator, coil, you name the electrical componant and I'd probably replaced it. Tightened this little tiny (5/32?) nut and - Ta-DAAAA! If I'd have found it first it wouldn't have cost me anything but about 8 seconds of my time.
