changing 230 water pump

Water pump on my 50 FFPW started leaking. I have a new one to put on and a couple of questions:

1. do you need to remove the fan blades to get the pump out?
2. I can't create enough clearance to get the fan belt off, looks like it will come off as the pump is removed...is that right?
