I didn't have the type of wrench Chris described, but I could see how well that would have worked. I used a ratcheting end wrench, and wiggled the fan as Chris descirbed..worked very well.
Now that it is out of there, I might as well paint some of it. I thnk the cyl head was originally silver, do I need to use a high-temp paint on the cyl head and block? I am not planning to paint the manifolds? Were things like cast iron elbows originally painted body color...or something else?
