Thanks for the xlnt advice re removing my front drums; so let's move on to the rears. My understanding is that the rear axle is a full floating Dana 60--and it does look like the pix in the Dana 60 repair manual.
So I've got the axle shafts out and I'm looking for a pair of big bearing retainer nuts w/ a lock tab between them. But they're not there. What is there looks to be an oil seal--maybe pair of nuts are behind it? I hate to take the seal out. No doubt that'd destroy it and I don't think the NAPA guy down the street has a bunch hidden under the counter.
I don't see a seal in the cross section diagram in the Dana manual, and the Dodge parts book only has a rear axle shaft / wheel bearing diagram for the W300. But the W300 does have an oil seal in that location and the book shows one for the W200 as well, both being 915-496.
There's more--in section 22, Wheels, the parts book does have a W200 diagram showing the oil seal and a paper gasket behind it. Then come the nuts.
Is there a way to get 915-496 out w/o rupturing him, or is that just the way it goes? And the outer nut appears to be flanged--not like the part in this location on the front wheels. Probably will want another special tool for removal.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
