Well, I guess that'd explain a few things. I found the Dana 60 manual online, and one of the units in there looked pretty close to what I've got--based on the most casual sitting-on-the-couch inspection.
But I believe the rear is stock, and it does have the oil seals as shown in the parts book.
That's a good idea re the 58 manuals. I've got the 57 L series and M series manuals, but there's definitely stuff missing.
