Well, the old Wittenberg conversion M37 is back to work with a civilian Plymouth engine transplant. I still need to adjust the valves, as it runs kind of funky, and there's something really off with the timing (TDC is ~20 deg past where the pulley says it should be) but even so it climbs hills in 2nd gear low range that it would barely climb in 1st gear low range with the old engine. Thanks everybody for all the help!
