First big rig semi I ever drove was a 56 KW, 262 Cummins and 5x3 trannies. Later on, same outfit, I drove a '54 KW 275 supercharged Cummins and 5x4 gear train. The next job was driving a '57 KW with a turbo 300 horse Cummins also a 5x4. The 54 & '56 were just like the pictured '55 with a double hinge butterfly hood and the '57 was first year with the single hinge hoods.
Did they run the 300 to let everyone hear the sound the supercharged engines make? A sound all their own and you can really pick it out in a crowd.
These sure bring back memories. Thanks! My brother and I almost always make the Brooks, OR show.
