I think it was DC who told me the bearing bearing set up fails. the hub bearings are 3 times the size. And like you said when you have taken them apart what is always toast. the roller bearing. I have had the same observation. the cone is rarely worn out. With PS conversion I dont see the point at all of converting to bearing/bearing. But to each his own. Closed knuckles large and small were always set up with the bronze cone till the quit making them in the 70s.
