That's the part I disagree with though.
See the age of the truck doesn't really make a difference, what makes a difference is that on a modern vehicle, the brake shoes are simply spring mounted & they float within the drum. If a drum is out of round, sure, it'll vibrate but you still have virtually 100% braking.
In our trucks the way the shoes are solid mounted on the bottom, if the drum is only a few thousands of an inch out of round, you may only have 50% braking...you follow? Combine that with the fact that 95% of the trucks I've bought don't have the shoes adjusted properly because if you don't have the shoes arced to each individual drum when you have the drums machined...there is no way to adjust them properly.
I've found the braking from our trucks not only adequate but better than average when adjusted properly. There is absolutely zero reason to install disc brakes on a WDX-WM300 unless you're constantly driving through water deeper than your axles & experiencing brake fade on your trip to the Rubicon :)
I'll challenge anyone here to a braking competition...my brakes factory stock & you bring your hydroboost discs :):)
