Regarding my 1952 FFPW B3PW:
Question regarding FFPW bedboards (for the truck)...what are the actual dimensions for the boards themselves? 4x6 inches by 7 feet?
The only oak I can find like that is very thin: 4 x 6 x 3/4 inches thick, up to 12 feet long, cut to length needed. I don't see where that thin planking would be strong enough for the 'Job Rated' use I may put it through.
I don't have the original bed for the truck, only most of a seven foot bed that I am pretty sure came off a Pilot House or a Power Giant. I would probably assemble that bed, as I don't have the bank to get the right bed put on.
Also, what do you folks think about putting the wrong bed on this truck? I know it's mine, etc., but I'd like to do it right with the original series bed...I just ain't got one!
The bedsides I have have two stake pockets, not three and have a hole pattern for the large, elongated fenders from what I think might have been a Power Giant or Pilothouse bed. They are roughly seven feet long. I was thinking about welding in the hole pattern, and installing fenders of the FFPW style to match the running boards. That's sort of Frankenstein, but what the Hell.
I've got a tailgate with raised lettering, the two sides and the front wall. Still need fenders, rear running boards and wood.
Opinions?
