Plan to upgrade the brakes to at least front discs if you plan higher speeds. That'll run you approx $650 complete incl using Ray at Helitool's disc kit. I'm in the process of installing the kit and the quality is outstanding!
Top speed will be low for hiway use- under 50mph. The 230 is not meant for hi speed use. So maybe a re-power is in order. Again, I suggest Helitool and a Mopar LA V8.
OR, do what swap the M37 body onto a Chevy PU chasis. It's a cheap way to have modern brakes/engine/steering/electronics/less drivetrain noise and keep the M37's looks.
Being your commute is short, and assuming not on the highway, the M37 could serve as a daily driver. Keep in mind the M37 is not a practical driver, just serviceable.
