In my own prejudiced opinion, the M-37 is a better truck than m-715. At least you can get parts easily. I wouldn't be so concerned about a specific year but rather condition. You can find a good solid M-37 at a reasonable price. A good driver is much less expensive than one that has been restored to its full military glory. Engine swaps are easy enough. Max speed in the M-37 is 55 but it really runs better at 45 to 50 so your daily commute may be a bit longer. You could go with taller tires for better top speed performance. The m-37 is a fun and solid truck.
