OT... North Dakota ranks 2nd in US Oil production???

ND has moved ahead of Alaska,Oklahoma, Lousiana & the other players. Wow I didnt see this coming. Was ranked 9th just 6 years ago. Is this a result of new fields discovered, new technology in getting known oil extracted or a decrease in state drilling regulation? The article I read (local news) just listed the ranking w/o going into depth.
