The outside edge pieces are not channel, but are 6" x 3/16" flat steel. I had my friend, who has a metal fab. business, bend it on his press brake into a 4" x 2" L shape, with the 2" leg facing in at the bottom. The pocket pieces are welded on the inside of the vertical 4" portion.
I'm always surpruised at the number of us old guys who have found this site. I'll soon be 70 but I don't plan on changing my momentum any time soon.
