Ah been there Nick. The first seal that I did popped right out. Dave Horvath and I chiseled and beat on one for what seemed like hours once.
I now have a ring with a lip on it that I tack weld to the face of the seal and use a bearing puller to remove the seal. I grind the the tack welds off and the ring is ready for the next one. I have used this method on at least a dozen seals. I have not tried it on a seal that the third member was still installed and under the truck.
