as you can see from this diagram ot the tracta the splined area is way thicker than the rest of the shaft, which is also true with the rear axles of the 62 which are the same as the wdx
however the front axles of my 62 the shaft is the same thickness as the splined area and appears to be of a different material, they look bullet proof
so I really do think you could make some stronger replacements for the rear
my guess is that the thinner shaft flexes so much on the long shaft that it twist the splines in two
i donīt need any now cuz i donīt think it is a problem on the 6x but someday I also want a wm in the fleet and have always wanted come up with stronger axles for the rear
