Forty years ago I bought a Weller D550 pistol grip soldering gun. 'Have used it regularly to make permanent wiring connections. But as simple and sturdy as it has been, the little twin light bulbs have failed to come on at times. A little shake or bump usually would add light to the job. Now they stay off. I've opened the case (three screws) and not seen any broken wires, brightened the bulb contacts with steel wool--still nothing.
Any suggestions other than replacing with Chinese ****--not even sure the North Carolina plant still make them here?
