yes 3rd and 4th synchro'd only. I like that tranny as 2nd in the 435s, SM465, T18 etc always goes out first because of a failed synchro. not a problem with the NP420. if you really want a beefy tranny with 2nd 3rd and 4th synchro go with Canadian M37 tranny. called Acme but really is just a T98 (early T18)
