as much as i love diesels, depending on your use, a well placed dodge small block is a reliable, cost effective and reversible option for your consideration. i put a 360 in a m37 a few years back. it made it much more useful and fun to drive. since i wasn't driving to the moon and fuel cost wasn't a consideration, it worked for me. i have seen long block flathead 6s shoehorned into 1/2 tons. that is another option worth considering too. looks closer to stock.
