I've checked all three of my books, and I don't seem to be able to find a coolant flow diagram. Since the 56 I bought had an overheating problem I wanted to check a few things to make sure they are right. So, do I have this correct?
1) The water leaving the water pump all goes into the water distribution tube. (yea, and mine was plugged towards the rear with a paper like material?)
2) Hot water leave the cylinder head at the T-stat and goes into the the top of the rad.
3) The cooler water exits the rad from the bottom and goes into the left side of the rad.
4) 3/8" NPT plug in the top is water in
5) 3/8" plug on lower left is water out.
6) The plate on the back of the water pump has one opening for the watyer distribution tube and a small hole in the center for something.
7) I am adding a coolant filter. The input to the filter I am taking from the drain plug on the lower left side of the block near the oil fill tube.
8) I'll plumb the outlet of the filter to the top 3/8" port on the water pump if I have it right and that is water in.
Does it seem like I have this right?
Thanks
Wayne
