I also prefer bronze. I have had a lot of parts cast in bronze - high maganese bronze. I have even reproduced in bronze some original parts that were only ever made in cast iron. The high maganese bronze machines really nice and is not as brittle as cast iron. It holds paint well too if you are worried about the bronze showing through.
