Don't waste any more time thinking about this conversion. I drove a 66 gmc with a 305
quite a bit in the early 80's. they are heavy
and durable but fuel hogs. I later put a 350 in the same truck and mileage was 40% better with more power. I think the 305 had 244k on it.
