sorry I did not document with pics. you should though! I am terible about doing that.I jsut used 2 strips of 3/8 inch steel about 1.25 to 1.5 wide and how ever long total it was I dont remember maybe 4 plus inches? only need center to center 2 inches or so for it to work. I still say that would be the shortest route to get the job done. although if you moved the frame brackets forward like you said it would look cleaner.
