Your right Jerry, White oak is the best bet. It has closed cells that help prevent rot as red oak is like a straw and draws water. Here on the east coast we have locust.It's used a lot for fence posts. I was thinking of giving that a try. Treated lumber is nasty stuff, like you said it eats steel. I needed 6 months of chelation to remove the arsenic that built up in my body from years of using treated lumber.Go natural...
