I am making new ones for my WDX. I'm using white oak, and will soak them in some Thompson's Water Seal I happen to have.
The reason I am posting this is I have seen several posts on cab blocks a and RB blocks in the past. Some have suggested using pressure treated wood, due to availability and simplicity, I presume. What some might not know is this: you have to be very careful using some types of pressure treated wood in direct contact with steel. The chemicals they are now using will literally dissolve a nail, washer, joist hanger, etc. For this reason, the industry watchdogs are requiring the use of "hot-dipped" galvanized nails, washers, hangers, etc.
If you are considering making your own blocks, be sure you don't end up rotting out the floor of your cab or your running boards.
