Properly welding the hole will take experience. The weld must be perfect to be drilled and honed and end up good. Most will not have the experience to weld, drill and hone. If you have it done, I bet it would be cheaper to buy a used 'good' knuckle and be done with it. Yes, you need both half's as theya re machined together.
