blackout light voltage help - david sherman?

guys - i need to wire up my command car's blackout light. it is a 6v bulb that ran on 12v using a coiled wire resistor. in my application, i would like to install some sort of in line reducer to drop the incoming voltage to the bulb to 6 volts. the bulb's wattage is similar to a turn signal bulb. the immediate thought is to change the bulb to a 12v, but it is soldered into the blackout lens assembly and the rear is threaded to accept the wire fitting. what readily available resistor is out there? thanks.
