I always use a clip on air chuck with enough lead that I can stay very remote (usually outside of the garage). On my end, the hose is hooked up to a Milton pressure gauge so I can monitor the amount of pressure just by releasing the handle. Like other posters suggest, i place the split 180 degrees opposite the valve stem, make sure everything is straight and positioned correctly. Lastly, I was fortunate enough to buy a surplus inflation cage super cheap, so no need to chain the rim. I have never has a problem with these type of rims. Safety First!
