I'll wade in. the trailer was designed for the 2.5 ton 6x6. It is a heavy trailer. Howevermuch of that weight is unsprung, i.e. wheels and axles. I pulled that out and installed a standard mobile home axle with a 5.5 inch five bolt pattern (Ford Truck/Jeep). Is has made the trailer much more usable. A buddy of mine has put lowboy tires on his and pulls it behind his 92 Dodge. As a matter of fact we pulled it from Phoenix to Colorado (Rocky Mountain Rendezvous) with a load of iron (parts). as with most all military trailers I've had experience with it pulled well. I like them but they are big. $500 (in my opinion and its worth about that) is probably about right in some parts of the country but high in others.
