T-case as overdrive

With all the adaptations going on out there to make old four-bys faster, has anybody thought to mount a transfer case in reverse and turn low gear into high gear? I’m sure the result would be noise,heat, and breakage, but does anybody really know for sure. I’m hoping somebody will give me a specific reason why this won’t work, so I don’t have to try it.
