Sorry, I have gotten all wrapped up in my head and forget to give any other things I came up with.
I think that the original slow cranking problem may have been from the contact inside the solenoid finally reaching a point of maximum corrosion. Originally, I tightened the nut down to see if that was it, but when I put the old starter back in I rotated the contact a little and now it cranks over strong again, just need to track down why the ignition switch is not working between driving it into the shop and now.
