Oil paints and varnishes us a 'hardener' or 'Japan Drier' that aids in the cross linking that turns oil into plastic- or varnish.
They used to use lead, now they use other 'metallic driers'. Just like they used to use lead to boost octane ratings. But the lead in fuel has been replaced- with something that acts as a 'metallic drier' to the vegetable oil in two-stroke oils, perhaps?
Isn't phosphorus used in hi-po lube oils? So maybe an oil additive in the crank case kicks off the veggie oil in premix, epoxy-ing the valve stems ?
