They bought nce fired brass government surplus, and pulled bullets from some other source. Cases flowed pretty bad from the high pressures, so they could reload one time as a live round, with neck trim and ream. Then loaded as blanks with the star crimp. Then sold for scrap brass, for about what they paid.
Boy o boy, the M-2 is real artillery!
