I run 1.0" copper throughout my entire shop.
I have air/water separator at the compressor and also air filter with a water drain on a Tee. The company who built my compressor told me to run my copper at a steep angle to to ceiling height. The long copper run would help cool the air and any condensation will rain back down the slope tot he water drain.
All my drops have water/air separators and filters. The separators/filters come off the drop at 90 degrees. The pipe continues down a ways to a 1/4 turn valve to drain any possible water. I have never had any water come out of those traps.
I also have a automatic water drain on my 120 gallon air tank at the compressor. The valve is plugged into a 120 volt outlet. It can be programmed for frequency of drain and length of blow off. I am set to 10 minutes frequency and it blows off for 2 seconds. In hot humid weather, a lot of water is blown off during heavy use.
