I would think anything coming from off shore would have to meet DOT specs., if the part is sold through a distributor/retailer such as NAPA. Parts sold on Ebay and the net can be sold not meeting DOT specs., so you have to read the fine print. I personally would not be concerned using shoes made with asbestos. You really have to have worked in industrial environment over a long period to expose you to the amount required to be dangerous, my personal opinion from materials I’ve read, but I could be wrong. Most people probably are under the impression, all you need is one fiber, and you’re done. If that were the case, a lot more of us would be gone from Mesothelioma. I’m almost 60 and hunted around asbestos mines in California kicking the stuff up and breathing it over the last 50 years. I guess if I get Mesothelioma at some time in life, I can blame it on asbestos being on the roads I drove on – silly me, and I’ll blame Prostrate Cancer if I get that, from too much s@*%x. Oh well, that’s life, enjoy it! :=)
