Fleabag here, went out to the shop to start up the wood stove about 5am this morning then came back in for a few and Jackie and I thought we heard some howling and cry's hard to tell in the cabin to here something, thought a coyote was out front, opened the door to go back to the shop and there was a dog on the porch, got him to follow me out to the shop then went inside and got some dog food and some water and brought it back to the shop, dog got a drink and ate some food. The wood stove was warmed up by then and I pulled a couple of rugs in front of the stove and pretty much sat and watched this dog sleep all day. Jackie called all the no kill shelters and rescue's around our area of Indiana and was told all were filled up, they said they are over run by dogs at this time, I asked a lady if they are still no kill and she said she could not promise that he would not be put down, seems the economy has people dumping pets out in the country big time. There was a guy that called me and said he could pick the dog up in the morning and I said I would make a substantial contribution to the shelter but I just could not connect to this person the way I usually can with someone when I talk to them and told Jackie that when he calls back in the morning I'm going to tell him forget it. I put a found add in the bigger town's newspaper that is close to me and hope by chance someone lost him but I really think somebody dumped him and he has been searching for his home for quit a while thats probably why he slept all day. I remember when we lived in illinois and lost Duke a boxer in Wisconsin and he came back home about 4 weeks later with swollen paws and slept for 2 days without eating. I really wish people would not dump pets, I can not imagine me not being able to feed my dog somehow. Fleabag!!
