24"x48" holes are excessive, unless they are that big because you are digging with a backhoe. If digging by hand, 4" to 6" bigger than the posts should be plenty. And unless the frost travels deeper in Yakima than it does here in Sandpoint, I don't see the point in going deeper than 30" to 36".
Brace the posts with your roof purlins, since they will be longer. X brace them together, post to post, and then run one brace from the post toward the center of the building, and drive a stake in the ground to hold the post. This keeps the outside clear for the ready mix truck.
