I am not trying to be a smart a** here, but I just wonder why people feel the need to put 8-volt batteries in Power-Wagons?
My personal experience has been a good one with 6-volt batteries. I buy mine from the local farm store and they are not name brand. I have no idea who makes them. They last me from 7 to 8 years before needing replaced. I never take them out of the trucks for winter and I always go out when a day comes in February, when it is about -25 degrees, and they both start right up. Both are shedded, but not in heated sheds. I tried this same thing with one that never sat inside. It was on the northwest side of the building, in the wind, with 20 something below temps, and had not been started in two months. No problem - started right up.
So what has caused 6-volt batteries to get a bad name? If a 6-volt battery does not start a 6-volt truck and/or last at least 5 years, is there not something wrong with the charging system? I guess it just sounds like a bandaid fix for some deeper problem.
