We could date ourselves by telling what's the cheapest gas we ever remember seeing. I remember 32.9, with 35.9 common. On vacation once, my father called it "highway robbery" when he had to pay 46.9 for ethyl. Of course we did get the windows washed, the oil and battery checked, a free highway map, and a plastic dinosaur along with the gas.
Whatever the price is today, someday it's going to seem cheap. I just read Brazil recently discovered a "super-giant" oil field of light crude under the Amazon jungle. Think they'll sell it to us cheap? Probably not.
