If you can get all plastic away and their is no aluminum around you can use some Meratic Acid. I use it all the time on rust and stuck parts. You can get it at most hardware stores and pool stores. Put in a small sqeeze bottel and poor a little along the edge. But besure to wash it off and ware gloves!
