318 Poly

Aside from the fact that the Helitool conversion kit is for LA, is there any major reason to avoid a 318 Poly? I would assume that one factor may be rebuild cost. In comparison to LAs are the Polys 2X, 3X the $ to rebuild? I have experience with the differences in cost when rebuilding 'old' style engines('58 Poncho 370, certain parts cost up to 1000% more than one year later). The reason I ask is I have access to a cheap 318 Poly with trans out of '62 D500 and have an M43 that I intend to repower without the . I am mechanically inclined, so while the Helitool kit would be nice, it is not a necessity for me.
